V-Express Steam Train by UGears - build your own moving engine
V-Express Steam Train with Tender
The Victorian Age filled with the spirit of the Industrial Revolution is a source of internal inspiration for designers and engineers. Ugears turns to this fascinating era once again to create the V-Express Steam Train with Tender.
The minutely detailed design of the Express reveals the beauty of moving details: gears and a flywheel, and the work of cylinder-piston arrangement.
One full winding will give your Express energy enough to cover a distance of up to four meters. The locomotive has three settings: forward, back and idle. Switch it into the “Back” setting and the Express will roll back and automatically hook up with its tender.
The coal car with lifting sides has a hatch that you can lock with a tiny latch. Assembling the Ugears’ V-Express Steam Train with Tender you will feel like an inventor engineer discovering for the first time the magic of the complex mechanism taking shape in your hands.
The V-Express Steam Train with Tender kit includes 2.45 meters of tracks.

I bought 2 items and the first one built took over 1 hour it was very well built however one of the stop sign of the build snapped no fault of Ugears yet to build the train so overall 5 stars
Very well cut. Designed professionally and worthed to recommend.

Don't no Xmas present
Have purchased this for my Father In Law. Have not given it to him yet. He is an avid model maker and I’m sure he will be delighted with this. The packaging etc is excellent. Will review once he has completed this model
In two minds...
This is a brilliant idea and the Train looks really great on a window sill, it runs on the track - by all means, buy one and make it! BUT it doesn't get 5 stars from me because: 1. Out of the 30 hours it took me to build it(I'm a mechanical engineer, by the way), many frustrating hours were spent only on extracting the parts out of the templates. You see, they are each linked at too many points in their template and, especially the little or thin ones, are very stubborn to come out and easy to break. There is no reason to linked them so often! 2. Expect to sand down and wax almost every part. I feel that tolerances should have been more relaxed. Everything is super tight and my fingers still hurt after two days. 3. The quality of the plywood - adequate, but would have preferred hard-wood plywood. The one used is prone to come apart in small bits at the surface. I understand this choice must have been made on price point and you can request spare parts which they boast they send free of charge. I didn't want to use this service, so my train has a lot of chipped parts, but they are not visible. 4. The rail tracks are way too flimsy, quite a let down. After all this, having the finished train in my hands, it still feels like a great experience having built it, together with my lovely wife, so thank you UGears for making it! All you guys need is to address a few things and make it less frustrating, that's all.
